FREDDA E. (Lowrie) NIMS

ESTEEMED ROCK FALLS RESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. E. R. Nims Passes Away Following An Extended Period of Illness

Death summoned Mrs. E. R. Nims, highly respected Rock Falls resident, at nine o'clock this morning in the family home, 615 Dixon avenue.  Her illness has extended over a period of eight months during which time she was a patient sufferer.  Tentative plans are to hold funeral services Tuesday afternoon.

Fredda E. Lowrie was born in Potsdam, New York, May 29, 1863. At the age of seven years she came from the east to DeSoto, Wisconsin where her home was made until her removal to Rock Falls in 1883.  In the year 1884, she was united in marriage to E. R. Nims and to this union one daughter, Bess, was born.

Mrs. Nims became a member of the Congregational church of DeSoto when 12 years old, later transferring to the Rock Falls Congregational church where she remained a member to the time of her death.  Her early life was spent in active church and Sunday school work.  It was through her untiring efforts and those of other loyal workers that the Rock Falls Congregational church was built up to its present standard. Due to poor health in her later years, Mrs. Nims was forced to retire from active work of the church, but was ever ready with a helping hand for the needs of the church.  Mrs. Nims was one of the last active charter members of the Rock Falls Woman's Relief Corps.

The immediate members of the family left to mourn her loss are the husband; one daughter, Bess, wife of Charles Schoaf, Rock Falls;  three grandchildren, Mrs. Elinore Heaton of Oak Park,  Edgar and Ruth Mac Lennan of Rock Falls; one great granddaughter, Baby Heaton of Oak Park and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Anderson of Melstone, Montana, and Mrs. Grace Sharp.  She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

With the passing of Mrs. Nims, the community loses one of its most beloved citizens. She was a kind and true friend to all, always willing to give assistance wherever she could in time of need.  The sympathy of the community is extended to the family in their sadness.
