Donna Hunsberger Borop

 

            Donna Hunsberger Borop, 87, of Lake Forest, CA, formerly of Prophetstown, died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at Freedom Village Health Center following a lengthy illness.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the First Congregational Church, Prophetstown.  Interment in Riverside Cemetery will be at a later date.  There is no visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The Gibson & Son Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

            Donna was born September 1, 1917 in New Bedford, IL the daughter of Henry E. and Madge (Heaton) Olson.  She graduated from Princeton High School in 1936.  she married Adrian Hunsberger on June 15, 1941 in Princeton.  He died on October 18, 1969.  She then married Lyle Borop on December 8, 1978.  They resided in Prophetstown until relocating to Palm Desert, CA.  He died on January 13, 1998.

            She and her husband, Adrian, owned and operated the Gambles Store in Prophetstown.  Later, she worked for Case Implement Dealership and WSDR Radio, both in Sterling, IL.

            She was a member of the First Congregational Church, and being an avid golfer, a member of Prophet Hills Country Club.

            She is survived by a daughter, Nyla Hunsberger Page, a granddaughter, Madyson A. Page, both of Irvine, CA, a brother and his wife, Robert and Alberta Piper, Princeton, IL and nieces and nephews.

            She was also preceded by her parents, step-father, Ansel Piper and a brother, Zane H. Olson.
