Earnest A. Johnson Funeral Rites Today
 
Prophetstown: - Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Garner Funeral Chapel in Prophetstown for Ernest A. Johnson, 61, who died late Saturday afternoon at the Sterling Community General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four weeks.
 
The Rev. Leonard Lowe, pastor of the Prophetstown Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Riverside cemetery.
 
Ernest Algot Johnson was born Oct. 6, 1896 in Sweden, the son of John E. and Emma Johnson Larson (sic, should this be Emma Larson Johnson?).  He was educated in the Sweden schools.  He came to the United States July 21, 1914 and settled in Rome, N.Y.  He moved to Prophetstown in 1916 where he engaged in farming.  He was married to Ethel A. Carlson of Prophetstown in Morrison on Feb 14, 1923.  He was of the Lutheran faith.
 
Survivors are his widow, one son, Richard Johnson,  Prophetstown;  three grandchildren;  and four brothers, Darl, Alfred and Swan, all of Sweden, and Donald of Prophetstown.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
