OBITUARY -

Mr. V. Wayne Cooper, age 53, of 407 Grove Street, Tampico, Illinois died Wednesday, January 24, 1990 at his home in Tampico.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. in Tampico Baptist Church, with Rev. Peter Carlson, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 26, 1990 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. A memorial has been established in his memory to the Tampico Baptist Church, Tampico Fire and Ambulance.

Mr. Cooper was born on May 30, 1936 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Virgil and Mary Resberg Cooper. He was united in marriage to Janice Johnson on December 20, 1959 at Tampico Baptist Church and she preceded him in death on October 5, 1985. He was then united in marriage to Debra Pinter on July 25, 1986 at Princeton, Illinois. He was a self employed electrical contractor in the Tampico area during his lifetime and owned and operated Wayne's Electric in Tampico until his recent illness.

He was a member at Tampico Baptist Church, treasurer of the church, and past trustee of the church. He served as fire chief of the Tampico Fire Dept. for 30 years and was well known as a fire instructor throughout the area. He became a member of the Fire Dept. in 1953 and 3 years later, at age 23, was elected chief, a post to which he was regularly elected. He was Tampico Twp. supervisor until his illness and had also served as Tampico Twp trustee.

He is survived b his wife, Debra of Tampico, two sons, Bruce and Bradley both of Tampico; two half brothers; David Anderson of Tampico and Roger Abbitt of East Moline, Illinois; his step mother, Leah Abbitt of East Moline, Illinois.

He was precede in death by his parents, first wife, one brother and one half brother.
