OBITUARY

Mr. Jack FARNHAM, age 79, of 304B East 19th Street, Sterling, Illinois, and formerly of Tampico, Illinois, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at his home in Sterling after a short illness.

Mr. FARNHAM was born on February 4, 1925 in Granite City, Illinois, the son of Sam and Eunice (ADAMS) FARNHAM. He was united in marriage to Phyllis L. JONES on June 29, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 2, 1993. He attended St. Louis Missouri schools and graduated from Drury College (B.A.)in Springfield, Missouri, and received his master degree from Western Illinois University Graduate School in Macomb, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy during WWII with duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a teacher, coach and administrator in public schools for 34 years with the last 24 years in Tampico, Illinois. Throughout his life he enjoyed sharing his love of learning and sports with young people. During his retirement years he was a faithful follower of Sterling athletics and was a member of the American Legion Post 574.

He is survived by three daughters, Pat (Norman) RITTENHOUSE of Fairbury, Illinois, Karen GARRETT of Geneseo, Illinois, Cindy (Marc) MELTON of Prophetstown, Illinois; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and one sister, Norma EBERLE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; one son, Rodney; one son-in-law, Bob GARRETT; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McFarland, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in TAmico. A memorial has been established in his memory to the Tampico United Methodist Church. Arrangements were completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico.
