OBITUARY

Mr. Fredie J. Blackert, age 64, of Route 1, Tampico, Illinois died Friday morning, December 11, 1992 at his home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 A.M. in the Garland Funeral Homes in Tampico with Rev. Ron Barrick, pastor of Hooppole Zion United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hooppole Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. A memorial has been established in his  memory to Whiteside County Hospice and Zion United Methodist Church of Hoopple.

Mr. Blackert was born on August 30, 1928 in Hooppole, Illinois, the on of Fred and Blanche Fehlman Blackert. He was united in marriage to Harriet Patterson on August 24, 1952 at Spring Valley, Illinois He farmed in the Tampico area during his lifetime and he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church of Hooppole, Eshelman Tally Doye American Legion Post No. 1191 in Hooppole, and was a former Yorktown School Board Member, former Fairfield Twp. Board Member, former Annawan Bank board member, and served on the Fairfield Twp. Drainage District many years.

He is survived by his wife Harriet of Tampico, IL; two sons, David and Greg both of Tampico; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Julie) Wetzell of Tampico, IL; nine grandchildren; one step grandchild; one great grandson; three brothers, Everett Blackert of Geneseo, IL, Dale and Robert Blackert both of Tampico, IL: one sister, Mrs. Stanley (Roberta) Scales of New Carlisle, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gladys; one brother, Floyd; and one infant brother, Merle.
