Verna Wood, 100, of Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, formerly of Kissimmee, Fla., and Tampico, died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Good Samaritan Village.

Services are 4 p.m. Tuesday at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico; the Rev. Karl Kaiser of Tampico Baptist Church will officiate. Burial is in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation is 3 p.m. to services. A memorial has been established in her memory.

She was born Sept. 5, 1904, in Dresden, Tenn., to John R. and Gertie Sutherland Duke. She married Gerald M. Wood May 7, 1932, in Paris, Tenn. He preceded her in death Jan. 30, 1997.

Survivors are a daughter, Dathel Harms, Davenport; a son, Gerald L. Wood, Crown Point, Ind.; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Aileene Farrarini, Fort Myers, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
