Julius Boelens Dies, Services Tuesday

Tampico: - Julius Boelens, 81, of Tampico died early Sunday morning in Community General Hospital, Sterling, following a short illness.

Visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the Schmitt Chapel where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 this evening.

Funeral rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tampico, with the Rev. Eugene Parker officiating.  The burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tampico.

Julius Boelens was born Sept. 9, 1889 in St. Lauriens, Belgium, the son of August and Virginia Staelens Boelens.  He was educated in Belgium and was married in St. Lauriens to Clara Verloock Oct. 13, 1919.  They came to the United States in 1919, settled in the Annawan area, then moving to Prophetstown and Tampico areas before retiring in 1964 and moving to Tampico.

Mr. Boelens was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tampico.  He is survived by his wife Clara, one son Marcheil Boelens of Polo, RFD, three grandsons, one great grandson, two brothers, one sister and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and a son Andrew in 1945.
