LEWIS C. UNDERWOOD was born in Erie county, Pennsylvania, and came to Illinois in 1832, ssettling at first in Rock Island county, and in 1846 located in Portland. He married Miss Eliza GILLETT. Thier children were: Elias, who married Miss Delilah TEATS, and lives in Portland; Lewis C., living in Indiana; A. Bruce, living in Portland; Elisa Rose, who married William P. TEATS, and is now dead; Elizabeth, who married Moses HARMON, and is also now dead; Mila B., wife of Millard PADDOCK, living in California, and Electa, wife of L. A. SIMMONS, living in Portland.
