My family and I went thru Tampico a few days back and we really loved the town! We noticed the house at this address that was up for sale. It looks magnificent and we were wondering if there was any significant history to it or maybe anyone that may have lived there. I navigated thru your site and was very impressed with the history and genuine caring that people seem to have for the town. I found it very interesting! Thank you in advance for any help or info regarding the residnce.

I'm pretty sure you are refering to the A. T. Glassburn house (we call it the "Castle House"). A. T. was the son of Tampico's founding father, J. W. (aka: John Wayne) GLASSBURN. J. W. first built the brick house, just north of it for himself, and then built the "castle house" for his son.
A family history page on this site shows both homes. J. W.’s house looks a little different now, since the porches have been enclosed.

Thanks so much for the info!! I kind of figured it had something to do with someone important to the history of Tampico. Just wondering if someone from the Glassburn family still owned the home and/or lived in it up until the home was put up for sale last month. Thanks again for your time and research on the "castle house".

I asked our president about the house. Here is her response: Denise, Don and Evelyn Taylor have been the current residents, until his death this past fall. Before that Andersons lived there. I can't remember who all were there, but Dave & Kathryn Cain lived in part of the house at one time (they had it divided into 2 apartments)also Charles and Ivean Aldrich lived there (he was a mayor)and Bill Clay family (he ran Lumber Yard before Kermit Branson). It had to have been before the 40's when a Glassburn was there. Don't know if Margaret would know anymore or not, but if I get a chance, will try to find out.
