Betty Ellen StutzkeSTERLING – Betty Ellen Stutzke, 94, of Sterling, IL passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at the Citadel.
 
 
Betty was born on January 16, 1925, in Tampico, IL to Edwin and Margaret (France) Temple. She graduated from Tampico High School as Valedictorian of her class and attended Browns Business College. 
 
She married Carl Stutzke on December 8, 1946. He passed away October 19, 1992. She was the secretary for the family business, Stutzke Plumbing in Downtown Sterling for many years and a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sterling. She was an election judge and enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. 
 
She is survived by daughter, Shirley Ann (Dave) Jamison of Sterling; son, David Stutzke (Rhonda) of Sterling; grandchildren, Meg O’Brien Huber (Glenn), John O’Brien (Nancy), Timothy O’Brien (Amber Johnson), Andrew Stutzke, and Ryan Stutzke (Shelbi Shipma); five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Loudenburg.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, daughter Barbara (Stutzke) O’Brien; two brothers, Ray Temple, Don Temple and one sister, Edythe Swingley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sterling with Pastor Jacob Gawlik, officiating. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Oak Knoll Memorial Park of Sterling. 
 
A memorial has been established to St. John’s Lutheran Church and Rock River Hospice and Home, both of Sterling.
