From the pages of the Tampico Tornado newspaper I find the following SCOTT articles:
December 5, 1891 Albert E. SCOTT and Miss Mary LANE daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles LANE, were married at the M.E. parsonage in Rock Falls, Thanksgiving day.
July 1, 1893 Died SCOTT - At his home on the Arron POPE farm, four miles north of Tampico, Ill., Thursday morning, June 29th, 1893, of consumption, John SCOTT; aged about 24 years. Funeral at the house at 2 o'clock p.m., Rev. F.L. BALDWIN, of Sterling officiating. The remains will be interred in the Tampico cemetery.
May 25, 1895 Last Thursday the Tornado office was honored by calls from Mrs. Fred BROWN, her sister Miss Ella SMITH and her brother Bert, Mrs. Frank DAVIS, Mrs. Will SCOTT, miss Mary SANDERS, Miss Cora WHEELOCK, and Miss Ethel SMITH. They came in to see our strong arm power press work and to inspect our new office.
April 6, 1896 Mrs. J. E. SCOTT and daughter Bessie drove down from Sterling last Saturday and will make their home here this year. They will keep house for Frank and Will SCOTT, who are going to work for The James McBRIDE farm this season. Mr. SCOTT will remain in Sterling and conduct the feed sheds as formerly.
February 6, 1897 John G. LaCOSTE and Miss Minnie SCOTT were married Tuesday evening at Rock Falls. Mrs. SCOTT was an adopted daughter of Aaron POPE of this place, and she is well known to many of our people north of town.
February 6, 1897 T.A. SANDERS and wife from Yorktown spent one night here last week as guests of their daughter Mrs. Wm. SCOTT.
February 7, 1903 Mrs. Geo. BERNREUTER was suddenly taken ill Saturday evening with a severe attack of tonsillitis and heart trouble. She grew rapidly worse during the night and fears were entertained of her surviving. She was very sick for several days but is considerably better now. Her mother, Mrs. SCOTT of Woodstock was summoned and is here at present.
February 14, 1903 Mrs. Geo. BERNREUTER and children and her mother, Mrs. SCOTT, went to Woodstock, Ill., Wednesday, where Mrs. BERNREUTER will visit for some time.
February 21, 1903 Miss Bessie SCOTT a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E SCOTT who resides south of here, was united in marriage to James OLIVER of Waterloo, Ia., last Saturday afternoon. Miss SCOTT is well known here. Mr. OLIVER is a cigar maker by trade.
July 11, 1903 John SCOTT, of Sterling, spent the Fourth with his mother here.
