Record Building

Prior to the construction of the Court. House, the Board of Supervisors appropriated $1,200 for the erection of a suitable building for county offices—for County Clerk, Recorder, Treasurer, Circuit Clerk, Supervisors and Probate Judge. This building was completed in 1862, and is situated west of the Court House in the county block. It is a solid two-story building, constructed of brick, with stone trimmings, and is fire-proof.

The finishing and furnishing inside is neat and substantial. This building was constructed under the supervision of R. G. Clendenin, E. B. Warner and A. Farrington. The Recorder's and the Clerk's rooms are incased with solid walls and have iron doors with combination locks. The Supervisor's room is in this building. It is a pretty little hall, providing a bench for the President and his Clerk, and a desk for each Supervisor.
