Hello all FOY descendants! I am confused about the information on Daniel Foy. I have information posted on site, but notice there are two different birthdates in the various information. Could someone help me decide if the information is two different Daniel Foy's or if it is just inaccurate information on the birth dates? Here is what I have found posted either on this site, or from on-line Gen. Charts:

My data shows Daniel Foy, Son of William Foy, born in 1822. The 2nd source referenced above must be a typo (not 1812, but 1822). There is also another error a few lines down.

1 Daniel Foy, GGGG Uncle. Born on 7-31-1822 in Napoli, Cattaraugus County, New York.1,2 Daniel Resided in New York in 1822. At the age of 30, Daniel Resided in Tampico, Illinois in 1853.3 At the age of 61, Daniel Resided in Kansas in 1884.3 Daniel died on 3-6-1899, he was 76.1,2 Buried in 3-1899 in Tampico Memorial Cemetary, Illinois.2 Occupation: Supervisor of Tampico County, Illinois from 1861-63 & 1865; Justice of Peace for some years. 3Daniel Foy was originally from Cattaraugus Co., N.Y., but came to this county from McDonnough Co., IL, locating first in Prophetstown, but moving into Tampico in 1853, and locating on section 29. He was Supervisor several years, and also held the office of Justice of the Peace some years. In 1884 he moved to Kansas.

6Centerville was formed from Pike, Wyoming county on Jan. 15, 1819. It is the northwest corner town of the county.

9William Foy, a native of Vermont, came to this town in 1819, and located on lot 57. His son John was the first white child born in the town of Napoli. Mr. Foy died in Illinois. Four brothers of Foy, Benjamin, David, Jonathan, and Samuel, settled on the same lot in 1819, but all removed except Samuel, who now resides on lot 57.


In 1811 when William was 23, he married Ruth Morill, GGGG Grandmother, in Centerville, New York.10

Thanks Brian,
I didn't want to assume anything, but thought it was a misprint of some kind. Unfortunately, it has perpetuated itself in many on line charts and is also in Bastian's book.

Transcribed from the Whiteside Sentinel March 16, 1899:
Daniel Foy, a pioneer of Whiteside county, died at his home near Tampico Monday night of last week, aged seventy-eight years. He was born in New York and moved to Illinois in the early forties, settling in Nauvoo. He moved to Whiteside county a few years later. He was taken ill last fall with a dropsical disease, gradually growing weaker until the final summons came. He leaves a wife, five sons and four daughters, besides a large circle of friends. He was held in high esteem and filled numerous offices of trust during his lifetime, having been a supervisor from Tampico township for a number of years. The funeral services were held at Tampico, Wednesday afternoon.

Tampico Tornado
March 11, 1899
Daniel FOY was born in Napolt [???] Cattaraugus County, N.Y. July 31st, 1822. Died at his home in Tampico, March 6th, 1899. Aged 76 years, 6 months, 5 days. In 1839 being then 17 years of age, he came to McDonald county, Ill, remaining there 7 years. He was united in marriage to Mathilda WILLIAMS December 1st, 1843. In 1847, he came to Whiteside county and settled in Tampico, being one of the earliest settlers of that town. He has since resided in this place, with the exception of 9 years spent in Kansas and Colorado.
He leaves a wife and nine children, five boys and four girls to mourn their father and all of them were able to attend him during his illness except two daughters living in the west.
The funeral took place at the M.E. church this past Wednesday afternoon March 8th. Rev. O.E. READE officiating and he was laid to rest in the Tampico cemetery.
