Thank You, Denise. Yes, I have the census information. I am a little confused on the cemetery that Jacob and Priscilla are buried in. From the cemetery listings on genealogytrails, they appear to be buried in the Zion/Smack cemetery and the Zook cemetery. Am I missing something here????

I know that the George's came from Franklin County, Pennsylvania. I believe in the 1880 census there is a Jeremiah (Jerry)George and his wife Joanna (Mitchell)in Clyde, Whiteside County, neighbors to the Zook's and not far from Jacob and Priscilla. They also were from Franklin County, Pennsylvania. I would like to know if there is a connection to Jacob and Priscilla.

I am basically looking for information that would lead me to Jacob and Priscilla's parents. Any help is appreciated.

I checked with Christine Walters, who is the moderator for the Genealogy Trails/Whiteside. Here is her response:
Denise..
The correct cemetery for the George family -- is Zook Cemetery Sect. 3 Clyde Twp.
I'll get the other cemetery changed asap... Both cemeteries Zook and Smack/Zion are both in Whiteside... Sorry - that I have no information on the parents of Mr. George...

You mentioned that the Jacob & Pricilla died in 1903/05 in Whiteside. May I ask your source or at least if you know the exact date or town/township? I have been trying to find someone who transcribes obits, but cannot find a newspaper for Clyde township in that time frame. Any other tidbit you can offer?

MRS. JACOB GEORGE DEAD
Old Settler of Clyde Township Passed Away in Morrison
Mrs. Jacob GEORGE, an old settler of Clyde Township, died at noon Monday at the home of her son in Morrison. She and her husband had started about four weeks ago to go to Cedar Rapids, Ia., to visit with a son and daughter and were stopping for a short time with the Morrison son. While there, Mrs. GEORGE was taken sick, and has grown steadily worse till death came. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Franklin Corners and the burial will be in the cemetery near.

Mrs. GEORGE was a good woman, and had been a member of the River Brethren church for a number of years. She was known all over the neighborhood where she had been living for a number of years, as a noble, true and faithful woman and one who would be a true friend to everybody. She leaves besides her husband, two sons and one daughter. All members of the stricken family have the sympathy of their friends at this time.

The funeral services of Mrs. Jacob GEORGE of Clyde were held in the Franklin Church and were in charge of Rev. Mr. TRIUMPH of Polo.

Sterling library – Cemetery Books list the following in ZOOK Cemetery:
Jacob GEORGE, May 23, 1835-March 3, 1903
Pricilla A. GEORGE, June 3, 1836-Aug. 28, 1905

(Note: Mrs. George’s obit says her husband is left behind to mourn her loss in 1905, but he is shown as dieing in March 1903. Did she re-marry? I checked the 1903 papers for his obit, but could not find one. It may have been just a small “blurb” in the news columns, and I may have missed it – but I read through it three times.)

Denise,

The obituary for Mrs. Jacob George(Priscilla)says she left a husband. Thats interesting! I am wondering if the cemetery records came from a transcription or actual cemetery records. Could Jacob have actually died later? Possibly 1908. I would think if she remarried, she would have taken her new husbands last name.

I checked 3 Gazette papers for Dec 1-8, 1905, but could not find an obit for Jacob. Sorry. I was short on time, or I would have gone through the whole month of December, just incase the day was a typo. You might want to contact Marilyn Anderson at the library to look more thoroughly.
